I would like to take a small survey on the topic of gambling.

1] Have you ever gambled at one of these "casinos?" Have you ever operated your own?
2] What were the odds?
3] Did they guy hold up his end? Did you hold up your end?

I found it very amusing how it works. The people I have seen know how to play with the odds their odds very well.

1] I have not gambled, nor have I operated a "casino."
2] The cleverest odds I have seen is "1-5 and 96-100 will return 5x your money!" I held a whispered conversation with me, and he let it slip that computers and other random number generators will stay away from the extremes.

That is totally wrong.
1-5 and 96-100 have the same appearing statistics as 26-30. But I would agree, that there are a few numbers that appear more often. But it depends on the algorithmus used to generate these numbers... There are no real killer numbers... Also there are too many people /dice'ing, so you can not precalculate the next numbers...

The funny thing is the /roll comand is meant to be used for rolling for who gets a good bit of loot... simular to how its done in WoW.

However here it was clearly never correctly implemented, nor is automated like in WoW.

They should fix the /roll command, make it auto or remove it completely.

Hmm, I thought the /roll was for die rolls. Made me wonder about trying RP'd D&D. xD

As for the gambling, I've played once at a casino.... 200 gold. Lost, got like 63, almost won. The fella seemed to hold their end up, they were in LA. (I had some stuff to do in town, so I overheard all the gambling, no one was screaming about their money.)

The odds I see the most are like, 65+ = 2x, 95+ = 3x.

He's absolutly right, removing /roll wont remove gambeling, people would just find another way to gamble.

Almost makes me wish you could only use certain emotes outside of cities and towns

Worst odds I've seen was rolling 1 on a 4 sided die pays double.

I run my own casino
Odds
60+ pays 2x
95-99 pays 3x
100 pays 4x
I have played before and been scammed out of 1000g
though you find that the scammers will be found out and people will not play them

As far as people wanting to get rid of gambling I think that not cool at all
I earned a ton of money grinding and this is a way to invest it
Most of my winning from other go towards helping to supply the people in the guild i started with supplies.
I also tend to help out youngeer players with cash and such.
So if you can afford to lose it then gamble.
And believe me I don't always win i lost around 4000 to this one char while in district 4 Guess the force was with him (he just kept rollin in that 60 to 89 range and once hit a 100 on a 400 bet)

If someone bets and wins and I pay whats wrong with that.
If they lose it was their decisions.

Gambling is everywhere in any era any region it's a part of life

1] Yes I have gambled at a casino twice, and never once ran my own casino.
2] In both cases, the odds were slightly in favor of me, actually. The people running the casino either aren't good enough at math to figure out that their payouts were too high, or they just didn't care...
3]The first time, I paid and then rolled and won double my bet. The guy then told me to wait a second... but he kept getting trade offers from other people and couldn't pay it to me. Then he disappeared. Apparantly he "disconnected" but he really did go offline so that might be the case. I havn't seen him online since so I don't know if I'm going to get my money back. The second time, I lost the first game and played again, and the guy disappeared right after I won but did not actually log out. I asked him where he went and he said he "lagged out" (obviously false, he was still online and responding). he told me he was in ascalon district 4 so i went there to find him and he wasnt there. I decided not to bother pursuing it further because he obviously wasn't going to refund me and it was only 100g.

What are you stupid? When something drops its already set to only one person being able to pick it up, yeah he can drop it/give it to someone, for money of course. The /roll isn't for what you said, but what it is for im not sure. I do know it wasn't meant for gambling -_-

i dont have a problem with cassinos, i have a problem with the spaming of cassinos, if ( im trying not to start a fight here) cassinos didnt spam, then i would say have at it, but every time im at lions arch i here cassino, cassino here, here, and its anoying, very anoying, in respect to the worst odds found, i beleave it was 1:1, some mathmatition was yelling "+++CASSINO+++ 50-100 DUBBLE YOUR MONEY (1:1 ODDS)"

I have gambled. I havent operated my own (someone might want to report, and i dont take chances)

the odds -- 55-59=reroll 60+ pays double /roll 100, 1k-10k bets

I always wait and see if others gamble at them (I normaly do this while trading to waste time away, so i have plenty of time) then, i go to gamble... and every person ive gambled at has been legit, some days, i lose all the money i had (normaly a max loss of 20k per gamble session) And the most ive won (in which i quit gambling after a high enough winning session is 14k)

Just for some recognition (The guys name **Whistle**)

The odds do hold up ^.^

No I'm not, but your clearly stupid and rude... so why don't you sit down and shut up for a second.

The /roll command was meant to be used for rolling for loot... however the current system means that all loot is autoassigned to someone. That's why you can select how big the dice is... party leader would select the size and everyone would roll, winning would get the item.

If you hadn't of started you thread with an insult I would have pay more attention to it, I lost all respect for you from the start.

Casinos are a 60% scam... 40% spam... and should be stopped. Anyone running them is doing nothing more but adding to this said spam. If you want to run one, then at least make a squad the 5 other people and run it in private!

No one cares or wants to hear "w00t" or "Damns" in local.

On a final note, lots of people I know have moved from WoW to this game, that includes me... and since its the most popular MMORPG at the moment that's why people compare other games to it... since WoW is talked about and well known.

This game IS simular to WoW on a core sense... so saying its different is like saying Tetris and Tetris DX are two different games, they are... but at a core level they are the same!

I played at a casino for fun. The guy held up his end, and his odds were 60-95 pays dbl, 95-100 pays trip.

I liked it alot, and had a bit of fun doing it really.

Looks like its all a moot point now. ArenaNet's front page now states that

Players should be aware that casinos are a breach of the Rules of Conduct, as is the advertisement or promotion of cheats, hacks, of exploits.
